Pilot Synopsis

In a war torn dystopia where state control has broken down and the US has fallen to violent local militias, the Freemans have a family-run private security company in the rural town of Albany, GA. The mission is to escort Natalie Pembroke, a BBC journalist, into the volatile and dangerous countryside of Georgia for an interview with Jorge, a local warlord, who has been seeking to end the conflict. As the family prepares for the job, a series of disruptions and last minute changes culminate in a gun fight between the Freemans and Dax, one of the most powerful and dangerous warlords in the area. As the dust settles, the Freemans realize Natalie is gravely injured and Dax now has his sights set on taking the family out.

Director Statement

Freeman Hospitality really stands out when it rises above its Western TV format, and it becomes a critique on the “American Dream” 2055 is painted with pointed clues on how we got here from 2023. A catastrophe of our own making. Climate change, America’s overindulgence in fossil fuels, a polarized political landscape, and our lax prosecution laws for financial crimes. They all created the perfect storm of how the most powerful country in the world could fall so far, and how the people who live there are still surviving. This all shown to you through the lens of the Freemans, an entrepreneurial Black family and their skills as a private security company.
